Coffee Talk: Leadership Strategies for a Virtual Work World

As companies go virtual and offer remote work options, we’re asking: “What will happen to company culture?”

As we’ve all gone virtual and more companies offer remote work options, there is one question that remains to be answered: “What will happen to company culture?”

Amber Ludeman ran her company–with her partner–for five years remotely with one full-time employee across the country.

Join us to learn the ways she made sure everyone stayed aligned on projects, exceed client expectations and deal with adversity without being together.

ABOUT AMBER

After graduating with a Master’s in English Literature from College of Charleston in 2012, Amber Ludeman was working at a digital marketing firm in Charleston and looking to expand her footprint.

As luck would have it, an angel investor was ready to make that dream a reality, and she got the opportunity to open her own firm in 2013. Her first call was to a colleague, Rachel Davis, from a steakhouse bathroom: “Are you ready to do this?” Amber & Rachel opened Matchstick Social’s doors on King Street in August that year.

Two and a half years later, the Air Force sent Amber and her family to Altus, OK, and she was thrown into not only working remotely for the first time, but leading from afar. After five years and two kids, she returned to the office in July 2020 with a team of six in West Ashley.

She is a consummate student, studying how the workforce was shifting pre- and post-pandemic. And now, Amber is now helping others navigate the world of remote leadership.

Shop local. Support local. We hear it all of the time-and while we agree, Rhetta Cloyd and Jared Black always ask their clients, “What are you doing to support the local community?”

In order for people to care about your business, you must first show them that you care about the people. Learn more about how to drive both the mission and the revenue goal by paying it forward to the community that supports you at our next luncheon event with hosts Rhetta and Jared from In The Black Marketing & Consulting. Location TBD. Lunch included.

Coffee Talk: The Importance of Being a Creative Chameleon

The world has gone virtual and to adapt, we need to become chameleons. Join us and learn the importance of becoming a Creative Chameleon!

Everyone has some creativity in them. Your accountant may find some ‘creative’ deductions, or the appliance-fixer may find a ‘creative’ way to keep your fridge running without you having to buy a new one. So with all this creativity, how do you stand out in a creative field? Could be by blending in?

Abby has learned the importance of flexibility, finding inspiration in the unexpected and the many advantages of learning from the chameleon. While perfecting a voice and/or style has its value, she believes the biggest value comes in the form of developing a design/marketing philosophy.

ABOUT ABBY MOFFITT

Over the past 15 years Abby has created for local nonprofits to rockstars, literally … Including some of the biggest (and most diverse) brands, artists & entertainment platforms in the world.

Her work appeared in retail locations such as Target & Cracker Barrel; with entertainment properties including Ace Comic Con and Pitch Perfect as well as Major League Baseball clubs and at music festivals including Stagecoach.

Abby has designed merchandise for Oprah, worked with Champagne brands, and created for a variety of artists, from Shawn Mendes and the Flatbush Zombies to Paul McCartney and Jimmy Buffett.

She graduated from UNC and definitely bleed Carolina blue. She believes in black Sharpies, symmetry and early morning creativity/ productivity. And if she’s not on her computer you’ll probably find her on a beach, a boat or dancing barefoot to her favorite bands.
