The Digital Marketing Coordinator is responsible for the management of the Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission’s website, e-mail marketing campaigns, and targeted digital media buys. This includes regular website updates, content creation and reporting. This position may require evening, weekend, and holiday work. Eligible to work in a hybrid environment as needed.

Specialized Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinates the layout and content of the agency’s website using a content management system (CMS) to ensure usability, accuracy, branding, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance. Analyzes website traffic and engagement and adjusts strategy as needed. Notifies the public of operational changes to parks, programs or events via website alert system. Reports website analytics to validate effectiveness of marketing strategy. Coordinates and secures digital media buys within the approved budget. Develops e-mail marketing campaigns from creation to delivery to analysis.

General Duties and Responsibilities
• Fulfills the digital marketing assignments accurately, defined by the requirements, scope, budget and timeline of the project.
• Applies meticulous attention to detail to the website and consistently reviews it for accuracy.
• Provides excellent customer service to internal staff requesting web updates.
• Develops annual digital marketing strategies specific to the website, e-mail marketing and digital media buys.
• Provides web, digital advertising, and e-mail metrics for the monthly marketing report.
• Ensures compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) website accessibility regulations.
• Participates in the preparation of the division’s budget including making recommendations, identifying cost saving opportunities and complying with budget restrictions.
• Participates in the supervision, recruitment, selection, training, and evaluation of the summer Marketing Intern.
• Maintains affiliations and certifications with appropriate professional organizations in accordance of this position’s duties including the South Carolina Recreation and Park Association and the National Recreation and Park Association.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Education and Work Experience Requirements
• A bachelor’s degree from a college or university in communications, business, marketing, or a related field, with four years’ experience preferred. This may be offset by an associate’s degree and five years’ experience. This may be offset with a High School diploma or GED and seven years’ experience required. Must pass a drug test and criminal background check, motor vehicle record check and shall possess and maintain a valid U.S. Driver’s License.
• Extensive knowledge of digital marketing principles.
• Extensive experience managing and maintaining a business website, ensuring optimal performance and user experience.
• Extensive experience measuring, reporting, and acting on digital analytics.
• Extensive experience with Google Ad Words, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and Google Places.
• Extensive knowledge of managing e-mails lists ensuring accurate targeting and personalized communication.
• Sufficient experience writing interesting, clear, concise, creative, and accurate text.
• Sufficient knowledge of major social media channels.
• Sufficient experience in graphic editing and design.
• Sufficient experience negotiating with vendors and suppliers, and coordinating contractors for professional services, and sufficient knowledge of placing media buys on digital platforms.
• Extensive experience with content management systems. Extensive experience in computer, mobile and internet technology and sufficient experience in business Microsoft software applications.
• Sufficient experience in actively listening and expressing ideas clearly and concisely, in oral and written form. Sufficient experience in generating new creative ideas and implementing them on an ongoing basis.
• Sufficient experience in recognizing, researching, analyzing and solving problems both independently and within teams.
• Sufficient experience in establishing and maintaining harmonious working relationships with fellow employees and dealing courteously and firmly with the public.
• Sufficient experience in providing outstanding customer service, internally and externally.
• Sufficient experience practicing basic fiscal duties including participation in the annual budget process, controlling expenses, and complying with procurement procedures in accordance with standard financial practices.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
This position requires moving, and also remaining stationary, for long periods of time in an office environment, as well as, occasionally in outside environments. This person occasionally traverses outside terrain such as concrete, pavement, grass, dirt, and sand. This employee frequently writes, reads, processes, moves, and files paperwork. On a daily basis, this position operates equipment such as computers, copiers, and printers. This position requires daily communication with staff in person, online, and by phone. This employee is required to occasionally travel to central and remote locations throughout Charleston County. This employee occasionally moves, lifts, and transports equipment and miscellaneous items weighing up to 10 pounds, and occasionally up to 25 pounds, to a height of 3-4 feet.
